Is the heart the abode of the soul, and is the heart mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah, to which deeds, intellect, and emotions are attributed, what is meant by the soul? And does the verse, "And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little," also indicate the soul's location?

The essence, reality, and location of the soul within the body are matters of the unseen (ghayb) into which a Muslim should not delve, for Allah Almighty says: "And they ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning the soul. Say, 'The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little.'" Allah Almighty has purposefully kept the reality of the soul obscure so that man may recognize his inability to comprehend it, and that research in this field is futile and of no benefit in religious or worldly matters.
