Does the spirit of the deceased remain in the house after death, and do the spirits of those they loved visit them, and how can one reconcile between the righteous spirits going to "Illiyyin" and their remaining in their graves with a window opened for them to Paradise, and the time passing instantaneously after death until the Day of Resurrection?

What some claim, that the spirit of the deceased wanders in their home for forty days, has no basis in the Sunnah. The spirit of a believer ascends to the seventh heaven, and its book is written in Illiyin. Then it is returned to its body in the grave, and two angels come to question it. Allah then makes it steadfast, and its grave is expanded for it, and it sees its abode in Paradise. As for the spirit of a disbeliever, the gates of heaven are not opened for it, and its book is written in Sijjin, and it is cast down to the earth. Then it returns to its body in the grave, and the two angels come to it. Allah does not make it steadfast, so its grave constricts upon it, and it sees its abode in the Fire. The narration about spirits visiting each other in graves is not authentic.
