Is a wife rewarded for remaining with her husband who is unable to have children and for refusing divorce, even though the opportunity is available to her? And is she burdened with sin if she seeks a divorce, even though the fault is not his? And is she entitled to request the apartment in exchange for her sacrifice of staying with him without children?

It is permissible to seek a divorce from an infertile husband if doctors confirm it, because procreation is one of the aims of marriage, and this is indicated by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanding marriage to the loving, fertile woman. It is also permissible to ask the husband for an apartment, and a wife's gift of her dwelling house to her husband is valid, unlike his gift of it to her.
