Is it permissible to pay Zakat after Ramadan?

Zakat on wealth is not tied to Ramadan, but rather to the completion of a full lunar year (hawl). Delaying it until after Ramadan is permissible if its hawl (due date) falls in Ramadan and it becomes obligatory, but it is not permissible to delay it until Ramadan without a valid excuse. Hastening it in Ramadan before it becomes due is sufficient. As for Zakat al-Fitr, it is not permissible to delay it beyond the day of Eid al-Fitr if one has the ability to pay it. Whoever delays it despite being able to is sinful, and it remains a debt upon them until they pay it.
