What is the ruling on a woman working at weddings, such as preparing the bridal platforms (kūshāt), adorning the bride, photography, and renting musical instruments?

The ruling on a woman working at weddings depends on what takes place at them. If the organizers adhere to Islamic law, and there is no forbidden mixing of genders or prohibited musical singing, then there is no objection to working, provided the woman adheres to the শরীয়াহ (Sharia) guidelines for women's work. However, if the weddings violate the শরীয়াহ (Sharia), then it is not permissible to work in them, because it constitutes aiding falsehood and immorality. Allah (the Most High) says: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." Among the forbidden things is the use of musical instruments, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There will be among my Ummah (nation) people who will permit illegal sexual intercourse, silk, alcoholic drinks, and musical instruments," and his saying: "Two sounds are cursed in this world and the Hereafter: a flute at a blessing and a wailing at a calamity."
