Is it permissible for a woman with istiḥāḍah to wipe over her khuffayn when performing wuḍūʾ?
Wiping over the khuffayn (leather socks) and jawrabayn (regular socks) is permissible for men and women, for those with excuses and others. There is no specific prohibition mentioned for a woman with istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) regarding wiping over them. Men and women are equal in the rulings and conditions of wiping, due to the generality of the narrations and because wiping takes the place of washing. There is no difference between a woman with istihada and one who suffers from urinary incontinence or others regarding the permissibility of wiping, due to the generality of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The resident may wipe for a day and a night, and the traveler for three days and nights." Wiping is not invalidated by things that invalidate tahara (purification) nor by the expiration of the time. However, if the excuse of the woman with istihada or the one with urinary incontinence ceases, then wiping with that tahara is no longer valid, similar to (dry ablution) when water becomes available.
