What are the pillars of the marriage contract? And what are its conditions?

Marriage has pillars and conditions. Its pillars are: the presence of both spouses free from impediments, the pronouncement of offer (ijab) by the guardian, and the pronouncement of acceptance (qabul) by the husband. As for its conditions for validity, they are: the identification of the spouses, their consent, the presence of a guardian (wali), and the presence of witnesses. It is also recommended to publicize the marriage. The guardian must meet the following conditions: sanity, puberty, freedom, unity of religion, masculinity, sound judgment (rushd), and uprightness (adalah) (according to some scholars). The guardians of marriage have a sequential order, beginning with the father, then his executor, then the paternal grandfather, then the son, and so on, ending with the ruler for those who have no guardian.
