Is silence the correct response toward a husband who utters words that object to Allah's divine decree and destiny, such as his saying, "Why does Allah do this to us specifically, out of all people?" and "Indeed, Allah Almighty mocks us, and He is now laughing at us"?

What the husband said by objecting to Allah's decree and being discontent with it, places him among those who express discontent, which is one of the major sins and may lead to disbelief that expels one from the faith. Allah is not questioned about what He does, while they will be questioned, and Allah's testing of His servants is not a sign of His displeasure. Furthermore, the husband's portrayal of the Lord Almighty with what he said about Him is a bad assumption about Allah, and constitutes disbelief that expels one from the faith; because it is a denigration of Allah and an act of belittling Him, and likens Him to the actions of imperfect humans. The wife must clarify to her husband the seriousness of his statements, ask him to utter the two testimonies (Shahadatayn) and repent, and ask him to seek help from a trustworthy shaykh if necessary. Otherwise, it is not permissible for her to remain with him.
