What are the categories of love, and what are the reasons that bring about the love of Allah, the Almighty, the All-Majestic?

Love is divided into two categories: the love of worship, which is exclusive to Allah. This type of love necessitates humility and glorification. Whoever directs this love to other than Allah is guilty of major shirk (polytheism). The second type of love is not worship, such as loving for Allah’s sake and in Allah, the love of compassion and mercy, the love of reverence and glorification (but not worship), and natural love.

As for the ten causes that attract Allah's love, they are: contemplating the Quran, drawing closer to Allah through supererogatory acts of worship, continuous remembrance of Allah, preferring what Allah loves over what the self desires, studying Allah's names and attributes, witnessing His benevolence and kindness, the heart's humility before Him, being alone with Him during the divine descent (of Allah’s mercy, in the last third of the night), avoiding everything that comes between the heart and Allah, and sitting with sincere lovers (of Allah).
