The answer

It is not forbidden for a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) to invoke blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; rather, it is desirable for him to do so upon hearing his name mentioned. Similarly, all other forms of remembrance (dhikr) such as tasbih (glorifying God), tahmid (praising God), takbir (magnifying God), tahlil (declaring God's oneness), and istighfar (seeking forgiveness) are not forbidden for him. What is forbidden for him is reciting the Qur'an.
