It is permissible to embalm a human body with chemical substances for a valid purpose, such as preventing the decomposition of the corpse for prayer and burial, or preventing its smell from changing. The purpose of perfuming the deceased is to make them fragrant and prevent their smell from changing. However, embalming by removing something from the body, such as the intestines, is not permissible, because it is mutilation of the deceased without necessity, and breaking the bone of a dead person is like breaking it while they are alive.
