Is the wife sinful if she lies to her husband and claims that she spent the money he gave her, so that he does not take it back from her after repeated altercations, knowing that he procrastinates in returning it and she is in need of it?

The husband is obligated to provide the wife with the daily, required maintenance (nafaqa) as a possession. If the wife is content with what the husband provides in terms of food, drink, and clothing as an alternative to this transfer of possession, then her right to demand maintenance is forfeited. The details of the obligatory maintenance include food, condiments, clothing, housing, cleaning supplies, bathhouse fees, fees for washing after sexual intercourse and postpartum bleeding, and eating, drinking, and cooking utensils.

Any money exceeding the obligatory maintenance, if given as a transfer of possession, becomes the wife's right, and the husband has no right to reclaim it. However, if it is for bringing household necessities and returning the remainder, the wife is not permitted to take the excess, and it is forbidden for her to lie in this situation.
