Is the husband obligated, in Islamic law, to financially compensate his wife for leaving her job and dedicating herself to family duties, knowing that this condition was not discussed at the time of the engagement and the wife did not request it herself?

The husband is not obligated to financially compensate his wife for stipulating that she leave her job. Rather, what is religiously incumbent upon him is to provide for her according to what is customary, within his means and capacity, as Allah Almighty says: "Let a man of wealth spend from his wealth, and he whose provision is restricted - let him spend from what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what He has given it." The husband has the right to prevent his wife from working, unless she stipulated working at the time of the marriage contract. He should, however, be generous and benevolent towards her if he is well-off.
