How can the five daily prayers be performed with their supererogatory (nafl) prayers, and what is recited in them, emulating the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?

The five obligatory prayers (Salat), the Sunnah prayers, and the supererogatory prayers (Nawafil) must be performed in the manner in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed them, for he said: "Pray as you have seen me praying." After Al-Fatihah, he, peace and blessings be upon him, would recite whatever was easy for him from the Qur’an, and his prayer was moderate, neither too long nor too short. He used to recite from the long surahs of Al-Mufassal in Fajr and Dhuhr prayers, from the medium surahs of Al-Mufassal in Isha prayer, and from the short surahs of Al-Mufassal in Asr and Maghrib prayers (and sometimes from the medium surahs in Maghrib). He often recited Surat Al-Kafirun and Surat Al-Ikhlas in the two rak'ahs of Maghrib and Fajr prayers, and during Tawaf. He would prolong the recitation in the night vigil (Qiyam Al-Layl), and recite whatever was easy for him in other supererogatory prayers. Al-Mufassal is divided into: its long surahs (from Al-Hujurat to Abasa), its medium surahs (from Abasa to Ad-Duha), and its short surahs (from Ad-Duha to An-Nas).
