If you are quick to anger, then you must suppress your rage and remember the promised reward for those who restrain themselves, as in the Almighty's saying: "And whoever is patient and forgives, indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] firm resolve." Strive to curb anger, and know that the strong one is he who controls himself when angry. Strive against yourself not to raise your voice excessively, for raising one's voice is not among praiseworthy manners. And Luqman said to his son: "And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys." Raising one's voice to the extent of need is permissible, but if it exceeds that, it is an unpraiseworthy habit that should be abandoned.
