The question

Is it permissible to play billiards on the computer outside of prayer times, while inviting players to remember Allah, and is it permissible to challenge the winner to seek Allah’s forgiveness 100 times, and is it permissible to enter the chat solely for the purpose of remembering Allah and advising them to do so?

The answer

The ruling on playing the aforementioned game was previously clarified in Fatwa No. 73507. If it is free from শরীয়াহ (Sharia) prohibitions, there is no impediment to using it as a means to invite people to remember Allah the Exalted and send prayers upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), or to agree that the loser should seek Allah's forgiveness, as this ultimately leads to the remembrance of Allah the Exalted, which is entirely good. There is also no impediment to entering chat rooms for advice, reminding others of Allah the Exalted, and any other purpose that is Islamically commendable, as long as one is not distracted from an obligatory duty, falls short in performing one's obligations, and is safe from the doors of temptation.
