Is the husband justified in his desire to divorce his wife for concealing information from him and for covering up for their daughter, who became pregnant out of wedlock?

A wife is not obligated to inform her husband of everything that goes on in the house, but rather of matters pertaining to the household's welfare and the preservation of its honor. If a wife knows of her daughter's relationship with a young man and does not inform her husband, she has committed a grave transgression. Marriage without a guardian (wali) or witnesses is invalid, and the child born from it is attributed to the father if he believed the marriage to be lawful. However, if it was merely an agreement without a legitimate marriage, the child is attributed to the mother. We do not advise hastening divorce; rather, we recommend counseling, deliberation, and weighing benefits against harms. If the young man is committed (to religious practice), it is preferable to marry him to the girl after ensuring she is not pregnant (by waiting for the delivery of the fetus) and after their repentance.
