Is it true that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, looked towards the horizon at sunset, when the sun had approached the tops of the palm trees, and said to his companions: "There remains of your worldly life only as much as has remained of this day of yours?"
Imam Ahmad and Al-Hakim reported from Ibn Umar that he wept intensely when the sun began to set while he was standing in Arafat. When asked about the reason for his tears, he said: "I remembered the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, standing in this very place, and his words: 'O people, what remains of your worldly life, compared to what has passed of it, is like what remains of your day compared to what has passed of it.'"
