Is watching TV series and movies and listening to music forbidden or permissible?

Allah Almighty has made it obligatory for a Muslim to safeguard their limbs from forbidden acts as a form of gratitude for blessings, and has warned against using them in disobedience. Hearing and sight are two paths to the corruption of the heart and the commission of indecencies, and a person will be questioned about them on the Day of Judgment. Ibn al-Qayyim states that the seven limbs are vehicles of ruin and salvation, and safeguarding them is the foundation of all good. The Quran connected lowering the gaze with guarding one's private parts, as forbidden looking leads to indecency. Prophetic hadiths clarified that the eye has its zina (fornication) through looking, and the ear has its zina through listening. Sheikh Al-Shinqiti affirmed that labeling the eye's gaze as zina is proof of its prohibition, for looking is the vanguard of zina. Watching TV series and movies that contain immodesty, effeminacy, dancing, and singing is forbidden. It is a means for Satan to gain control over the viewer's heart, and it leads to negative effects on societies, corrupts relationships, and encourages vice. Listening to forbidden songs and musical instruments that call to indecencies is also haraam. Therefore, the ruling on watching forbidden movies and TV series and listening to forbidden music is absolute prohibition.
