It is not permissible to give Zakat al-Mal (Zakat on wealth) to one's wife unless she is a student of knowledge who is eligible to receive Zakat. As for the accumulated study debt she owes, if she is unable to repay it, then she is considered among the "gharimeen" (those in debt) to whom Zakat may be given to settle their debt.
