Is it permissible to pray in shoes that prevent the toes from bending during prostration?

Prayer with shoes (Na'layn) is a matter of scholarly disagreement, with two main opinions among the people of knowledge. The Hanbali school holds it to be a Sunnah, while the majority of scholars consider it permissible but not recommended (mustahabb). There is no difference between hard and other types of shoes. Directing the toes towards the Qiblah is desirable (mustahabb), but if the worshipper omits it, there is no sin upon him. He can also remove his shoes when prostrating to be able to direct his toes towards the Qiblah.
