Is it permissible to pray in shoes?

It is permissible to pray in sandals, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray barefoot and in sandals. In fact, praying in sandals is sometimes recommended to differ from the Jews, who do not pray in their footwear. When praying in sandals, it is a condition to ensure their cleanliness by wiping off any dirt on the ground. This permissibility applies to places covered with earth or gravel, not to carpeted mosques.
