The answer

A Muslim must submit to the rulings of Islamic law, even if the wisdom behind them is hidden from him, believing that they contain profound wisdom, and that the human intellect is incapable of fully grasping all of it. Islamic law has granted guardianship (qawamah) to the man in the family because he is often more complete in intellect, and he is tasked with providing for his wife, which makes him more capable of bearing the responsibility of family leadership. In return, the woman is rewarded for her obedience to her husband, provided that it is not in disobedience to Allah. The husband, in turn, must treat his wife kindly and wisely.
