What is the ruling on singing anashid (Islamic songs) about Allah without music, in a low voice, and in a private place? And is it permissible to transform songs originally directed at people into anashid directed at Allah?

It was previously stated that musical instruments and music are forbidden. This ruling includes all types of music, even if accompanied by good lyrics. As for merely singing poetry that praises Allah or calls for noble morals, there is no harm in it, provided that its words are free from innovations (bid'ah), extremism, and bad language, and that it is not performed with the melodies of singers and revelers, due to the resemblance to people of iniquity. However, transforming human speech into (praise of) Allah is not permissible; rather, Allah should be glorified with verses (from the Quran), dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and legitimate supplications. There is no harm in repeating some verses that contain praise of Allah and mention of His blessings, if the aforementioned conditions are observed.
