Will Jesus, peace be upon him, appoint anyone as a leader after him?

Jesus, peace be upon him, will descend as a ruler by the law of Islam. He will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish the jizyah, and wealth will abound. The verse, "as a judge," means he will descend as a ruler by this law, not as a prophet with an independent message. As for the deaths of the Messiah and the Mahdi, the hadiths do not clarify who will die first. Nor do the hadiths specify the state of Muslims after the Messiah concerning the caliphate. This knowledge rests with Allah the Almighty. And Allah knows best.
