Is it permissible for a husband to agree to his wife's visit to a male gynecologist for her pregnancy follow-up, given the availability of female doctors, under the pretext of the female doctors' lack of competence and her fear for herself, provided that he accompanies her to prevent seclusion and to ensure that only what is necessary is exposed?

It is not permissible for a woman to seek medical treatment from a male doctor if it is possible for her to be treated by a female doctor, unless there is a necessity or an urgent need. The prohibition is more emphasized for a woman to seek treatment from an obstetrician-gynecologist due to the need to expose the grave 'awrah (intimate parts). The occurrence of an error by a female doctor does not mean that she lacks skill. If the female doctor is unskilled and only a skilled male doctor is available, there is no objection to consulting him, while observing the Islamic guidelines, such as avoidingKhalwa (private seclusion) and not exposing what is not necessitated by necessity.
