How authentic is the Hadith: "My Lord, do not blame me for what I do not possess," and what is its meaning if it is authentic?

The Hadith was narrated by a number of Imams from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to divide his time justly among his wives, then he would say: "O Allah, this is my division in what I possess, so do not blame me for what You possess and I do not possess."

Some scholars have deemed it weak due to irsāl (a break in the chain of narration), while others have authenticated it.

As for its meaning, scholars have interpreted it to refer to love and affection, as this is something a man does not possess or control. Therefore, the required justice pertains to the outward division, not to the inclination of the heart.
