Is it valid to use the Almighty's saying: "Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds that for them is forgiveness and a great reward" to justify committing sins while maintaining prayer, Sunnahs, filial piety, and memorizing the Quran?

Man must avoid sins and acts of disobedience. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) warned against belittling minor sins, and "trifling sins" are indeed minor ones. Scholars have stated that persistence in a minor sin transforms it into a major one, and that persistence in lustful glances or physical intimacy (with a non-mahram) can be more severe than a few instances of grave indecencies. One must beware of being deluded by Allah Almighty's forgiveness, for persistence in sins while relying on Allah's forgiveness or procrastinating repentance is a misconception. This is because the noble verse: "Indeed, Allah forgives all sins" applies to those who repent. Good assumption of Allah is good deeds themselves, and a servant is only driven to perform good deeds by his good assumption of his Lord. A person who commits evil deeds will not benefit from a good assumption of Allah; rather, a good assumption benefits one who has repented, regretted, ceased, and replaced evil deeds with good ones. The verse: "Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them is forgiveness and a great reward" does not indicate being deluded by Allah's forgiveness; rather, it indicates that if a righteous believer errs, he repents soon after. Some scholars have even interpreted it as referring to shortcomings in obedience. Therefore, let the servant beware of being deluded by Allah's forgiveness, and let him turn to obedience to Allah.
