Loving Muslims, wishing good for them, and supplicating for them are among the strongest bonds of faith, and this indicates the sincerity of faith and loyalty to one's brethren. A Muslim earns a great reward for loving others, and it is good to inform the beloved of one's love. Love must be for the sake of Allah, not merely due to similarities in temperament. Ihsan (excellence) is "to worship Allah as if you see Him; for if you do not see Him, He surely sees you." The fear of riya' (showing off) is commendable, but it should not lead to abandoning good deeds altogether. Rather, the servant should strive to ensure that his intention is solely for the sake of Allah. Khushu' (devotion/humility) in prayer is a divine grace, achieved through supplication, preparation for prayer, contemplating what is recited, and consuming lawful earnings.
