What is the ruling on combining prayers and when is it permissible? Is it permissible for a young person whose home or work is opposite the mosque to combine prayers?

It is permissible to combine prayers in specific circumstances. However, for one who has no excuse, it is obligatory to perform each prayer at its appointed time in the mosque. A child who has not reached puberty is not obligated to pray; they are rewarded if they perform it and not punished if they miss it. It is legislated to hit them for it at the age of ten for the purpose of teaching. It is obligatory for a legally responsible individual to perform the prayer at its appointed times, as Allah the Almighty says: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times." The guardian of a child should command them to pray at their appointed times, just as if they were mature, even if it is not yet obligatory for them.
