Is the questioner included in the reward for sponsoring a widow by sponsoring his widowed niece and her mother, given that he brought a driver and his wife to serve them due to his many responsibilities and work?
Sponsoring and caring for one's widowed sister and her orphaned children is an act of maintaining kinship ties, a diligent effort on behalf of the widow, a sponsorship of the orphan, and a charity given to a relative, combining charity with maintaining kinship. Great merit has been reported for caring for the widow and sponsoring the orphan. The one who strives to help the widow and the needy is like a mujahid (fighter) in the way of Allah, and the sponsor of an orphan is a companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in Paradise. If you wish for your heart to soften and your needs to be met, then show mercy to the orphan, stroke his head, and feed him from your food. As for the mother, her maintenance is obligatory upon her son if she is in need, and showing righteousness and kindness to her is an obligation in all circumstances. The merit of this is greater than the merit of striving for the widow, for Paradise lies beneath her feet. By intention, the reward for sponsoring the widow can be obtained if you intend that.
