Why does Allah test me through my daughters, and why has He not answered my prayers for their recovery? And what sin did my daughters commit to be afflicted, one with a rare heart disease, and the other with malaria, pneumonia, and possibly tumors?

All that befalls a servant is by one of Allah's decrees. Tribulation is not necessarily a punishment; rather, it may be a sign of love and a means of elevating one's rank. The acceptance of supplication is not limited to the fulfillment of what is requested, for a supplication may be answered promptly, or it may be stored for the Hereafter, or it may avert evil. Have a good opinion of Allah, rely upon Him, and turn to Him through obedience, remembrance, and supplication.
