Why did the Messenger of Allah, Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, say, "and breaking it is its divorce"?

This Hadith contains a recommendation concerning women and the importance of being patient with them, stating that women have an inherent crookedness from their original creation, because Eve was created from Adam's rib, and a rib is naturally crooked. Therefore, one must consider her nature and strive to reform her gently, while treating her kindly and finding excuses for her. If a man insists on straightening her entirely, this will not happen, but rather will lead to her divorce. Divorce is her breaking, and it is contrary to what Allah intended of tranquility and harmony. There is no denigration of women in this Hadith; rather, it is an encouragement to be patient with them and to deal with them gently, and that divorce may be an exit and a mercy for the woman.
