If the phrase "your luck is in your feet" means that sustenance comes only as a result of effort and striving, then this is incorrect. For all sustenance is decreed by Allah Almighty and written before a person's birth, and effort is a decreed means to that end. As for the rest of the similar phrases, they are idle talk from which a Muslim mustDistance himself, for Allah described the believers as those who turn away from idle talk. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also warned against the danger of the tongue, saying to Mu'adh: "Are people thrown into the Hellfire on their faces—or on their noses—except for the harvests of their tongues?"
