Is it permissible to go to the Holy Lands to perform Umrah with the intention of facilitating marriage matters?
There is no objection to performing Umrah with the intention of earning reward and seeking facilitation in marriage. The primary intention should be for Allah, and permissible worldly purposes accompanying it do not negate its validity. As Al-Qarafi mentioned, associating permissible worldly intentions with an act of worship does not invalidate it, such as someone who fights in Jihad to obtain spoils, or fasts for health. Nevertheless, purifying the intention solely for Allah and freeing the act of worship from worldly aims is more virtuous and brings greater reward, while still being able to supplicate to Allah for whatever one desires of the good of this world and the Hereafter during Umrah and to seek closeness to Him through sincere deeds.
