Is there a specific time limit for the sacrifice?

The time for slaughtering the sacrificial animal (udhiyah) is confined to the Day of Eid al-Nahr and the two days following it, according to the majority of scholars, and it is not valid thereafter. However, the time extends to three days after the Day of Eid al-Nahr according to the Shafi'is and those who agree with them. Al-Nawawi, in Al-Majmu', reported that this is the madhhab of the Shafi'is, and it was also held by Ali ibn Abi Talib, Jubair ibn Mut'im, Ibn Abbas, Ata, Al-Hasan al-Basri, Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, Sulaiman ibn Musa al-Asadi, Makhul, and Dawud al-Zahiri. Meanwhile, Malik, Abu Hanifa, and Ahmad said: It is limited to the Day of Eid al-Nahr and the two days following it. This was narrated from Umar ibn al-Khattab, Ali, Ibn Umar, and Anas, may Allah be pleased with them.
