Who is Kamal al-Din al-Damiri, and what is the book "Hayat al-Hayawan al-Kubra"?

Shaykh Kamal al-Din al-Damiri, a Shafi'i scholar, was born in the year 742 AH. He studied under a number of shaykhs and excelled in jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith, tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis), and the Arabic language. He taught in several places, was known for his extensive worship, and authored several works including "Sharh al-Minhaj," "Hayat al-Hayawan al-Kubra," "al-Wusta," and "al-Sughra," as well as a lengthy jurisprudential poem (urjuzah). He passed away in Cairo in the year 808 AH. His book "Hayat al-Hayawan al-Kubra" is arranged alphabetically and contains benefits related to animal names, verses (from the Qur'an), hadith, stories, and the properties of their parts. However, it is not free of talismans, charts, and unsupported issues. Therefore, it is not recommended to read it except for a discerning reader.
