Is the wife still lawful to her husband after he repeatedly divorced her in fits of extreme anger and then revoked some of those divorces, then divorced her a final time with full awareness and took her back, and then divorced her with a million divorces after a false accusation?

Divorce is an easy word to utter, but its consequences are dire for both spouses and children. It should only be resorted to in extreme necessity, such as when conjugal life becomes impossible. If divorce is pronounced by a man who understands what he is saying, it takes effect even if he is angry or ill. If the divorce reaches three pronouncements, with a return (reconciliation) between each two pronouncements, the wife becomes unlawful for her husband until she marries another man, by consensus. However, if it was pronounced with a single utterance, or if no reconciliation occurred between pronouncements, the majority of scholars hold that the wife also becomes unlawful. Others, however, believe that it counts as a single pronouncement. Therefore, if the questioner pronounced three divorces, with a return between each two, and he understood what he was saying, then his wife is irrevocably divorced from him (a major divorce), and she is not lawful for him until she marries another man, even if she was menstruating, according to the majority. As for Sheikh Al-Islam and those who agreed with him, they believe that a divorce that contradicts the Sunnah (such as divorcing during menstruation) does not count, nor does divorcing a woman during her waiting period before taking her back. Thus, for them, a major divorce is only realized with three pronouncements of divorce, with a return between each two, and the woman must not be in her menstrual or postpartum period.
