What is the ruling of the Sharia on one who increases the length of his house beyond seven cubits?

Divorce does not take effect unless the husband is conscious and has made a deliberate choice. This is indicated by the general Islamic legal proofs, and specifically by the hadith: "There is no divorce and no emancipation in a state of compulsion (or bewilderment)." Therefore, if the husband is completely unconscious or in a state of extreme anger that has deprived him of his awareness, the divorce does not take effect. As for mere anger that does not deprive one of consciousness, it does not prevent the divorce from taking effect.
