Is the daughter sinful for what transpires between her and her mother, who sows discord among her children, curses her, and makes the household hate her? And is she held accountable for what she says in moments of anger? And is the mother sinful for her shortcomings towards her children if the fault lies with her? And is the daughter considered disobedient if the mother says she is displeased with her forever?

If a mother prefers some of her children over others and curses one without justification, she is unjust. However, this does not negate her right to dutifulness, nor does it permit raising one's voice at her or being harsh with her. It is obligatory to be dutiful to her and obey her in what is good. If the daughter fulfills this, she is not disobedient, and her mother's cursing will not harm her. If a lapse occurs regarding her right, that is a strong possibility for Allah's forgiveness, as He says: "Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous, then indeed He is ever Forgiving to the often returning [to Him]." [Quran 17:25] Continue to be dutiful to your mother, and to be courteous and gentle with her. Responding to bad deeds with good ones brings affection, and dutifulness to one's mother is among the most beloved deeds to Allah and the greatest means of His pleasure.
