Is it recommended to perform Istikhara for someone who intends to travel for Hajj?

The Istikhara supplication is used for matters that concern a person when they do not know whether the good lies in doing them or abandoning them. However, it does not include religious obligations, because performing them is undoubtedly good. So, if Hajj, prayer, or jihad becomes obligatory, there is no Istikhara for them. As for permissible matters that are not obligatory, Istikhara is permissible if a person hesitates between doing them or doing something else that might be better for them, such as the Istikhara of someone who wants to perform an optional 'Umrah but does not know whether staying in their country for da'wah (preaching) is better or going for 'Umrah. So, Istikhara is for matters in which a person hesitates, not for obligations that do not admit hesitation.
