Is it permissible to wear plain gold, such as simple, inconspicuous rings and bracelets?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible for a man to wear a ring or bracelets of gold, according to the hadith: "Gold and silk have been made lawful for the females of my Ummah and forbidden for its males." It is also forbidden for him to wear anything that involves imitating women, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men." As for women, it is permissible for them to adorn themselves with gold and other ornaments, as long as it does not reach the point of extravagance. They must also conceal their adornments from non-mahram men.
