Is it permissible for a woman to pierce her tongue?

It has become popular among a category of disbelieving and corrupt women in the West, and it is a cause for the spread of tongue cancer, gum diseases, and tooth loss. Medical studies have shown that oral piercing leads to serious health complications such as "gum recession around the teeth, tooth damage, nerve damage, blood clots, and bloodstream infections." Furthermore, one specialist doctor mentioned that it is among the causes of cancer. Since this act is harmful, it is not permissible to perform it according to Islamic law.
