Is it considered haram (forbidden) to extort a husband who neglects his wife and daughters financially and emotionally, under the pretext of seeking treatment and providing for the daughters' needs, even though this husband is indifferent and spends his money on other forbidden matters?

A husband is obligated to financially support his wife and children with what suffices them, according to what is customary. If the husband, despite being able, refrains from doing so, then the wife may take from his wealth what suffices her and her child, according to what is customary, even without his knowledge, just as Hind bint Utbah did with Abu Sufyan.

If the financial support sent by the husband is insufficient, it is permissible for the wife to take what suffices her from his wealth, or to take a loan in his name. It is preferable to seek permission from the Sharia judge.

However, taking money through lying and deception is impermissible, unless it is the only means to secure a rightful due.

We advise the sister to be patient and seek reward from Allah, and we give her glad tidings regarding the virtue of raising daughters and being kind to them. They are a shield from the Hellfire, and whoever raises two daughters until they reach maturity will come on the Day of Resurrection with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
