What is the ruling on someone who missed days in Ramadan and did not make them up until another Ramadan began, then missed more days in the second Ramadan, without knowing the number of days they missed, and what is the amount of expiation required, and is it permissible to offer food instead of fasting, and what is the value of the expiation in Egyptian currency?

It is not permissible to resort to feeding the poor and abandon making up the fasts as long as you are able to do so, because Allah the Almighty says: "Then a [like] number of other days." You are only required to feed one poor person for each day whose makeup you delayed until the next Ramadan began. The amount is approximately one and a half kilograms of rice, and the monetary value is not sufficient according to the majority of scholars.
