What should a girl do who rarely prays and fears death in this state, attributing the reason for this to excessive work, forgetfulness, and laziness?
Abandoning prayer is a grave sin and a tremendous evil. Some scholars have gone as far as to consider one who abandons it an infidel. Allah the Almighty says: (Then, there succeeded them a progeny who neglected prayers and pursued lusts. So, they will meet Ghayy) except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds.
One must hasten to repent to Allah. A Muslim has no excuse for abandoning prayer as long as he is of sound mind. If work prevents one from praying, it is advisable to leave it and seek another job that does not conflict with prayer, or to remain at home if there is no need for work.
A forgotten prayer should be performed upon remembering it. There is no sin upon the forgetful person if it was not due to negligence. One must beware of complacency and negligence in prayer, for a Muslim's concern for it should be great.
