The guardian is not permitted to marry off his ward against her will. The wife's consent is a condition for the validity of the marriage. If she is married against her will, the contract is contingent upon her consent. If she consents, the contract becomes valid. If she does not consent and takes her case to court, the contract will be annulled. The inquirer's current marriage is valid as long as she has consented to it and wishes to preserve it. The husband must not believe gossip and must hate the slanderer for the sake of Allah, forbid him, and advise him. The husband has the right to prevent his wife from visiting or going to her father if his situation is detrimental to the marital relationship, especially if the visit could lead to outcomes that displease the husband.
