Is the Hadith: "The Hour will not be established until a people emerge who eat with their tongues just as a cow eats" narrated by Al-Tirmidhi or Imam Ahmad? And does the end of the Hadith mean that they earn their living with their tongues?

The hadith: "The Hour will not be established until people emerge who eat with their tongues, just as cattle eat with their tongues," was narrated through chains of transmission that are not free from weakness. Among them is the narration by Al-Bazzar and Ahmad with an unknown narrator, and another narration by Ahmad with a discontinuity in the chain.

However, its meaning is supported by an authentic witness in At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr: "Indeed, Allah detests the eloquent man who twists his tongue as a cow twists its tongue," which is a good hadith authenticated by some scholars. Some scholars have deemed the hadith of Sa'd as good due to this witness.

The hadith condemns those who seek their livelihood with their tongues without observing the fear of Allah, such as bearing false witness and lying, and like those who attract viewers on media and social platforms with sensational topics without observing Islamic rulings. They are likened to cattle because they do not distinguish between truth and falsehood, and between lawful and unlawful, in their speech and earnings.
