Does the Hadith of the Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, apply to one who dies outside of Medina and is brought to Al-Baqi’ for burial, or is it only for one who dies within the city itself?

It has been authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, an encouragement to die in Medina and that it intercedes for whoever dies therein. This is based on his, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying: "Whoever is able to die in Medina, let him die there, for I shall intercede for whoever dies therein."

As for someone who dies outside Medina and is then transported and buried there, they have the advantage of being buried in Al-Baqi'. Some scholars have opined that such a person might also have a share in the special intercession of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, for those who die in Medina.
