What is the ruling on eating game meat if its hunter does not pray or is a disbeliever?

The hunter is required to be a Muslim of discerning age, similar to the one who slaughters. If he completely abandons prayer, then his catch is not permissible to eat, because he is considered a disbeliever according to the more preponderant opinion. However, if he prays sometimes and acknowledges its obligation, then his catch may be eaten.

As for the catch of a People of the Book disbeliever (Jewish or Christian), it is permissible to eat their catch according to the majority of jurists, by analogy with their slaughtered animals, based on the Almighty’s saying: "The food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you." As for non-People of the Book and those who completely abandon prayer, their catch is not to be eaten.
